MILAN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Milano Teleport, the largest independent teleport in Italy with long experience in the provision of Internet satellite services, has been ranked 10th among world maritime VSAT providers by Euroconsult, the consulting company specializing in global markets.
The need for reliable, affordable Internet connections on board sea-going vessels are driving demand for connectivity by the maritime sector, where, according to Euroconsult, the growing demand for VSAT connections is expected to increase by 15% annually on all types of craft, from passenger ships to fishing and recreational boats.
Responding to this consistent demand, Milano Teleport has focused since on providing Internet services in the maritime sector, developing strategic alliances with leading satellite operators and distributors to provide on-board Internet services through global satellite networks. Milano Teleport’s activities are concentrated mainly outside Italy, with nearly 80% foreign sales in countries like US, UK, the Netherlands and newly-developing markets in Africa and the Middle East.
Umberto Gallo, CEO of Milano Teleport, said: "We have long been the principal Italian provider of VSAT services, so this recognition as the world‘s No. 10 maritime VSAT provider makes us very proud. This is the result of years of development which have seen Milano Teleport emerge ahead many larger international competitors.
“We plan to renew and improve our services to anticipate customerrequirements, in order to grow in foreign markets, which now represent around 80% of our revenue. We see high growth potential in sectors such as yachting, where we are planning to invest new resources.”
